A Visit From Violet!

I thought schools around the nation had a February break. I found out from my friends from out of state that February break is just a New York thing. Thank God for the great state of New York! Their great idea for schools to take a break in the middle of February, just after Christmas break, gave me the opportunity to have Violet down to the city for a few days. We’ve been planning this for a while, and usually having her stay in my dorm is no issue. Of course, it couldn’t be easy this time, as the Residential Life Department at FIT put a new rule into immediate effect the Friday before Violet got here on Monday. We are now not allowed to have overnight guests under the age of 18. I made the reservation for her to stay before this dumb rule got put in place, so I thought everything would go smoothly. It did for the first two nights. I have Mondays off this semester, so when Violet got here, I met her at the train station. We dropped her stuff off at my dorm and hung out for a little bit. Then we walked down to the NYU merch store to scout out what I will buy as soon as she gets there in the fall. I can’t wait to represent NYU and be an NYU boyfriend. Although they don’t have shirts that say that on them, so I’ll have to make one. Violet bought a cute pink hat, and then we started walking to the movie theater. We stopped at McDonald’s for a drink (and a McChicken, of course!) on the way. We saw Argyle on Monday afternoon. It was awful, but we enjoyed the time together. We took the subway down to the West Village to get pizza for dinner. We went to L’Industrie and holy fuck. Heaven-sent pizza every time. I put too much spicy red pepper on my slices so my nose was running like an Olympic athlete. We walked back to my dorm and got in no problem. I stayed up late to finish a presentation as Violet went to bed. Tuesday was a harder day to have Violet here. I felt bad that she came during a week of classes, but I still had my morning and afternoon classes. We went back to the movies and celebrated our belated Valentine's Day. We waited so we could celebrate together. I wasn’t the best Valentine, but Violet was amazing. She went to a chocolate store while I was in class and got us a chocolate sampler for the movie. Oh boy, do I love chocolate! We saw Anyone But You that night. It was really good. I’m a sucker for romantic comedies. I was predicting what was happening the whole time, and it was very predictable, but it was really funny. After the movie, we came back, and I had a little work to do again. Wednesday was a very stressful day. I had two classes that were both three hours long. RA emails were being sent out to those who were moving on. Phoebe was coming into Penn Station. It was a lot. One of my classes was on Zoom, but it was still brutal. I also had to finish a styling project during the afternoon, so I was gone almost all day. I felt so awful that I left Violet all day. When we came back from visiting Phoebe, our luck finally ran out. They wouldn’t let Violet stay another night. Quite bullshit if you ask me, but rules are rules. We ended up getting a hotel for the night instead. We made the best out of it though! We got Taco Bell and watched a really silly movie. Thursday was another busy day, but sadly, Violet left at three in the afternoon. I had a great time, and hopefully, she did too. That was a pretty quick rundown of my busy week. There was just so much going on, and I got so lost in it. I already wish Violet would come back! Happy Friday!
