A Walk In The Park

I’m proud to report that this weekend went as smoothly as possible! The last few times I’ve discussed my weekend plans on my blog, they’ve ended up going to shit. I have finally reversed the blog’s curse on my weekends. Work on Friday finished well. Saturday was a bit longer of a day but ended on a high note with the Maggie Rogers concert with my Mama. Sunday was also a good day. The mansion was bustling on a beautiful day, and I got out just in time to see the sunset in the park. When I commute back and forth from work, I take the train down the east side into Times Square, then transfer trains to get back to FIT. I take the same trains there and back. I’ve found a new way to commute to work now, and I enjoy it much more. My morning commute will stay the same—I don’t want to mess with any chance of being late. That is my biggest fear. On my way home, though, I don’t really need to worry about getting back so fast unless I’m supposed to be on duty or have plans. My new commute includes a beautiful walk through Central Park. I haven’t really explored Central Park much since I got to New York last year. I think my second blog post ever was written about a concert I went to in Central Park, and that was the last time I was there. Now that I work basically right next to the park, I feel it’s right to enjoy it a little more. Now that I’m writing this, I realize I haven’t been there in a year. I went with Fritz on November 5th for the New York Marathon—that’s still basically a year ago, though. This weekend’s weather was absolutely perfect, making my walks much more enjoyable. I realized that when you get to the west side through the park on 72nd Street, you come out by The Dakota. For those Beatles fans out there, that’s where John Lennon lived and was killed. For those Cooperstownians, it’s also a building formerly owned by the Clark family. I thought it was pretty cool to walk by every day after work, even though it’s a bit sad. If you’ve never been to Central Park, I recommend taking a nice stroll there sometime. I’m certainly very late to this realization. There are so many fucking people there, and now I understand why. When someone refers to something being very easy, they say, “It’s a walk in the park!” Those people haven’t walked through Central Park before—it’s not easy to navigate. It’s so big, and there are so many little walkways. I like the small things from time to time, and this is just one of those things. I hate when the weekend ends. It’s my least favorite time of the week. Now it’s time to go to class again and start the hell all over. I also need to finish my “Day in the Life” video. It was due this morning, and I’ve only filmed a bit of it. I need to go to class now. Enjoy the rest of a beautiful Monday. Happy Monday, everyone!
