Cooley's Wings and Home Decor

I love chicken wings. I wouldn’t say they're my favorite food, but they’ve got to be up in the top five all time. I like steak and sushi more for sure, but chicken wings will always have a special place in my heart. They remind me of home. I hate when people say comfort food, but that’s the only way to describe chicken wings for me. Nothing beats watching the Super Bowl with my family and chowing down on some Cooley’s chicken wings. Out of all the things I miss from home when I’m in the city, I think Cooley’s chicken wings are one of the top things on that list too. For those of you who aren’t from Cooperstown, Cooley’s is a tavern that also has some good food. The owner is also a great guy too. When I was home this weekend, I made the quick walk downtown with my mom, sister, and Violet to get dinner at Cooley’s. I would do anything to have those beautiful wings magically appear whenever and wherever I wanted. They make my mouth form a shape that resembles a smile. I think Cooley’s has been my main dining destination now for years. We used to go get pizza every day after school in seventh and eighth grade, but since then I really only go to Cooley’s. It’s the perfect place for a dinner with the boys, a birthday celebration, or a post-round of golf digression. I can’t wait until I’m twenty-one and can enjoy a Guinness off the tap there. The place feels very homey. There are pictures from all the great moments over the years, some from Pebble Beach and St Andrews, some from inside the tavern itself, and some signed pictures with Hall of Famers who stopped in. Cooley’s reminds me of what I want my house to feel like in the future. Obviously, I don’t literally want my house to feel or look like a bar, but I want it to show off my happy memories with my friends, family, and strangers. Pictures all over that bring me back to the place they were taken. I can already think of twenty plus photographs I want to hang in my house. I like saving tangible things from some of my favorite moments. I have a corkboard in my dorm to display pictures and things from those moments. I have tickets to museums, stickers from stores, business cards, name tags, and much more. It’s a small thing to do, but it makes me happy. I have the same thing at home on my wall. Decorated with my art, golf pins, and such. Decoration creates an environment and a feeling. I want my house to make me happy, as I assume most people do. I don’t really know how I started this post talking about how I love chicken wings and concluded it with how I want to decorate my future house, but that’s how it is. Happy Monday!
