Current Events

I just took a great hour-long nap and tried thinking about what I should write today. I’m not really sure what people like to read about. My biggest fear is becoming boring again. I think one of the best things (tell me if I’m wrong) about this blog is that it’s usually just about things going on in my life or around me. I love to share my current events. For one of my classes, we have to come prepared every week with a current event. It isn’t a really serious assignment. My professor just goes around the room, and everyone shares a current event going on in the world. Most of them circle around fashion because it’s a fashion-based class. A couple of people just used things going on in the city and related them to fashion. A couple of people just brought up stuff they experienced recently. I love when professors do stuff like this. We have twenty-seven students in that class, and getting to hear what everyone views as important current events is really fun. It’s even more fun when you relate to something or have more input. I love giving my opinion in classes. Today, we talked about the movie It Ends With Us. I had so much fun sharing my opinion on how awful I thought it was. The professor said she has only heard bad things too. I wish I could write a post about how much I hated it, but I think that's probably seen as insensitive. To put it plainly, they just could’ve made a movie about a serious topic more serious. Anyway, back to the current events. This whole discussion on current events and things going on in the world made me realize how little I pay attention to the news. I really never look at the news. I hear things here and there. Maybe an informative Instagram post pops up, but I’m not sure if I can trust those. When I got to school and all the professors (yes, every single one) said to stay up to date and subscribe to all the mailing lists, I was really good about it. For my first semester, I knew everything going on in the fashion world. A lot of real-world things influence the fashion world, so by association, I knew a lot of what was going on globally. In the second semester and into now, I haven’t kept up to date very well. I don’t mind not knowing. People like to argue nowadays, and if you don’t know anything, it gets you out of the argument completely. People like to tell me I’m uneducated, and it’s true. I’m content with being a little behind if I stay happy. Arguing doesn’t make me happy. Although I’m content with not knowing, I do hope this class helps me stay a little closer to the times. With the election coming up, it definitely isn’t a bad time to be in the know! I have to go to my third class now. Happy Wednesday, everyone!
