Formula One: New Season Approaching

The F1 season is coming back soon, and I’m surprised how excited I am for the start of the season. I’m a huge newbie when it comes to F1. I only started watching races after the summer break this past season. I started getting into motorsport because one of my best friends, Treston, kept suggesting it. I like trying to be somewhat knowledgeable about sports because they always come up in conversation, so I thought what the hell, maybe I’ll love it and maybe I’ll hate it. I started out by watching all 5 seasons of the Netflix show Drive To Survive. I fell in love with it all pretty quickly. It feels like a reality TV series, but it’s totally focused on sports. F1 has a great setup. They have their constructors and they have their racers. There are two world championships in play every season. That causes great drama and excitement. There are some constructors you can’t stand, for me it is Red Bull, and there are some constructors you love, for me that is Ferrari. Then, there are drivers you can’t stand, like Lance Stroll, and drivers you love, like Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. You root so hard for the ones you love and cheer so hard for your least favorites to fail. It’s just like other sports, but in F1, things can change within a blink of an eye. You are on the edge of your seat the whole race. Football games obviously change within milliseconds but not in the same way or feeling. With twenty drivers and ten constructors, there is no room for mistakes. Both drivers for a team could be out in no time flat. I’m not good enough yet to see differences in the cars, but I can tell that they are not the same. If you put every driver in the same car it’d be a different race. I’m excited to be a fan throughout the whole season. Being able to watch everything from start to finish will be a new experience. Between car upgrades and driver drama, I can’t wait to see how things will be. I only know what happens after the summer break, where things seem to be all set up and in the final stretch. I love talking to Treston about F1 too. Hearing someone who knows their stuff about something talk about it is always fun. When I get something wrong or ask a question, he always fills me in. Which all gets me more in love with the sport. I really liked following the news over the off-season. Lewis Hamilton leaving for Ferrari got me all turned around. I’m going home to watch the first race of the season with Treston. I want to skip forward a week just to be there. I also hope to go to a race soon with Treston. There is one in Montreal, so we'll see! I highly suggest trying out the Netflix series. It might spark the same flame that I did. Happy Wednesday and fuck you Christian Horner!
