Yesterday, I had the pleasure of stopping by the Giles & Brother studio and getting an impromptu tour from a close family friend, Sheri Zerkle. I've been running out of things to do in close proximity to FIT so I reached out to Sheri and asked if I could stop by and say Hi. I think it was my second time visiting the studio, but I'm not quite sure because the last time I was there I was too young to remember. This is definitely the first time I have visited since becoming interested in the fashion world. Sheri was so extremely welcoming and made me feel at home. She showed me the all the work tables, tumbling/finishing room, the old press books, archived designs, and everything in between. It was so inspiring to walk around and see sketches, cookbooks and line sheets. I loved the posters they had hanging for their past shows. The entire vibe of the place reminded me of my dad. With the antiques, anvils and pictures everywhere. Going through their current pieces and trying on their beautifully crafted jewelry was like putting a kid in the candy store. After all the "ooo-ing" and "ahhh-ing", catching up with Sheri and just hanging out in the studio was my favorite part of the day. I can't wait until I get the opportunity to go back because I could spend forever in that atmosphere. Thank you so much for having me Sheri!
