I Hate The Grammys

I hate the Grammys. I think out of all the major award ceremonies, the Grammys are the worst out of the bunch. Last night, I had people over to watch the Grammys, and I admittedly didn’t really pay attention until the last two awards. I was busy playing Call of Duty, but that's beside my point. I’m a very opinionated person. I’m not a big fan of award ceremonies in general because I think I should be the one giving out awards. Most of the time I think the academy does a good job with their nominations. Whether it's the Emmys, Oscars, or the Grammys, the nominations are pretty good. I can’t argue with that. I do, however, think a blind and deaf person makes the final decision when it comes to picking the winners. Last night, they made some of the worst decisions ever made. It was exactly like the Conor McGregor press conference where he says “Who the fuck is that guy?!?”. Who the fuck were these people? I don’t think I’m the most well-rounded person when it comes to listening to all music genres, but if the album was so good, don’t you think I would at least hear about it somewhere? There were some robberies last night. Big Mike should be detained by police for all the robberies he put on last night. That was some Oceans 11, 12, and 13 types of bullshit. I have never heard of this guy, and I predominantly listen to rap music. My friends all listen to rap music, and they have never mentioned this guy once. I think I know what everyone reading this post is thinking. “Max, you don’t have to hear about them to make their music the best” or “Max, just because you haven’t heard it doesn’t mean it isn’t deserving”. I disagree with both these claims. Why does music become popular? It becomes popular because the majority of people like it. When something becomes a major hit, it’s because it is good or catchy to the majority of people. Big Mike beat out Travis Scott for “Best Rap Album of The Year”. Who made that decision? He also beat out The Hillbillies for “Best Rap Performance of The Year”. Do you honestly think a guy named Big Mike could make a performance better than Two Phone Baby Keem and K-Dot Kenny Kendrick Lamar? You are nuts! My other issue with the Grammys is their willingness to nominate someone ten to twenty times and not give them a win. I understand it doesn’t mean you are the best that year just because of past nominations, but Lana Del Rey has never won a Grammy. She’s been nominated eleven times and never won. You really believe that she doesn’t deserve a win over all these years? You are psycho, Academy Grammy people! I love Taylor Swift. Midnights was not one of her best albums. Lana’s album was just better. It was! I’ll take on the Swifties for that one. Taylor bringing Lana on stage after beating her was messed up. Lana clearly didn’t want to go up there. Before I end this rant of a post, I also need to acknowledge three other snubs. Zach Bryan, Gracie Abrams, and Noah Kahan. How the hell did these three not win something? I know Gracie and Noah were nominated in the same category, but one of them should’ve won. I can’t even name the lady that actually won. Best New Artist. Noah Kahan swept the nation like a pandemic. Gracie Abrams makes grown men sob! Justice for Gracie! Justice for Noah! Happy Monday, and look forward to my Oscars review.
