Indian Food

I really don’t like to eat, and I’m a very picky eater. That sets up a world of problems. I find eating to be a chore—I feel like my body is bossing me around and forcing me to eat. It’s fucked up. It’s a waste of time and money. Food is so expensive in the city. I just got Indian food with Violet, and it was sixty-one dollars between the two of us. What the fuck? Once I find something I like, I usually just stick to it for a while and that’s all I’ll eat. Once I get sick of it, I’ll ditch it for a year or so. Things always come back into rotation. Then there are some things that will never be on the outs. Penne pasta, pizza, ice cream, and mac and cheese will always be hits. Right now, I’m in love with Indian food and Chipotle. I’m starting to get sick of Chipotle, so I think it might be on the outs soon. Indian food, on the other hand, is just glorious. My go-to order is chicken tikka masala (a side of basmati rice) and two orders of garlic naan. That gives me ample supplies to make little taco-like structures out of my food. I fold my naan and fill it with rice, masala sauce, and of course, chicken. I could eat it all the time, but it isn’t cheap or light. I feel like a bowling ball after a good Indian snackdown. I first had Indian food in London, the night before we were flying home. I was so worried it would hurt my stomach and make the flight miserable. Instead, I ended up falling in love with it, but I didn’t have it again for a while after. Now, it’s a staple in my diet. My dad and I go almost every time he’s in the city. I always go the day after I get paid to celebrate. One of my favorite meals of all time was the Indian food in St. Andrews, Scotland, after a round of golf at the Old Course. I couldn’t possibly write a post about Indian food without mentioning the holy grail of Indian spots. The naan was the size of a flying saucer. The chicken tikka was basically just one whole chicken. It was wonderful. One order could last you years! I started writing this post around eight o'clock but ended up falling asleep. It’s now fifteen past ten, and I’m struggling to keep my eyes open. I hope you have a great weekend, but I’ve got work in the morning, so I’m signing off here. Happy Friday, everyone—go get some Indian food!
