Major Switch!

This is my fourth semester as an FBM (Fashion Business Management) student at FIT. I am writing this post to announce that it will also be my last! To many people’s surprise, no, I am not dropping out of college. I’ve thought about it. I would much rather work six days a week and get paid than sit in a classroom. Apparently, that's not how the world works. I have to get my degree. For those who don’t know, after two years at FIT, you get your Associate's degree in whatever you originally picked for your major. Then, after the two years, you reapply and declare your major for your Bachelor’s degree. Our priority applications were due in early January, but of course, I didn’t know that. I submitted my application in late January, right before I came back to school. The reapplication process is really easy. It took me four minutes in the car. You just put down your information and what major you want to declare. They got back to us really quickly. After the first week of classes, we got our acceptance letters. I have a great GPA, so I wasn’t worried about getting rejected. A lot of people start in FBM and continue on to get their Bachelor’s in it as well. I’ve enjoyed FBM so far, but the path forward doesn’t really interest me. I don’t want to forecast or do product development. I don't really care about sustainability efforts as much as they want me to. It just isn’t my thing. I compared the class lists, and I decided AMC (Advertising and Marketing Communications) is more my thing. The classes sound way better and interest me way more. I believe it will make my resume look more well-rounded too. I’m slightly sad because I walked into my first day of classes and was so excited that I knew almost everyone. I’ve had so many classes with the same people, and I probably won’t see them in my new classes. I’m excited and nervous. It’ll be interesting. Happy Wednesday!
