I know I am almost a week late to posting my Spotify Wrapped on my Instagram story. Why would I just post it when I could write a whole blog breaking it down? I wanted to write about my top 5 artists and why they were my most listened to in 2024. This isn’t about favorites—it’s just who happened to be my most played artists. My Spotify Wrapped this year was very different compared to years past, but the music you listen to certainly shows you what kind of a year it has been. In 2021, my most listened-to artist was Phoebe Bridgers. As you can tell, it was a pretty shitty year. In 2022 and 2023, it was Tyler, The Creator. They were both really great years. I hope you enjoy my breakdown of my top 5 artists from 2024. Maybe it will give you some insight into how my year was. I’ll be posting a year-in-review at the end of the month, so read that too when the time comes. Anyway, without further ado…
My 2024 Spotify Wrapped Top 5 Artists
1. Zach Bryan
This summer wasn’t great. I think if you read my blog throughout, I talked about how miserable I was. I worked a lot and wasn’t particularly fond of one of my coworkers. The time I didn’t spend working was either with Violet or at the golf course. I didn’t see my friends as much as I did the year prior, and I kind of just wanted to rot in bed.
In 2023, Zach Bryan released an album right before I left for college. I loved listening to it because it reminded me of home and the great summer I had. When his new album came out this summer, it was on repeat from July until late September. Playing Zach Bryan on the golf course with Charlie, Kuk, or my dad were some of my favorite memories of this 2024 summer. Listening to him when I was at school reminded me of those good times.
I was expecting Zach to be #1, so this makes sense. I’m not sure where he’ll be on my 2025 Wrapped, though.
2. Tyler, The Creator
Tyler was my number one artist two years in a row, but before Chromakopia came out, I was getting a little bored. I had listened to him so much in the last two years that I just didn’t think I had many plays left in me. Once he released Chromakopia, I knew it would drag me right back in. I wrote a post about my initial reaction, and just like I expected, my opinion turned 180 degrees. Although I felt like I barely listened to Tyler this year, he still showed up as #2 on my list. I think 2025 will be a big year for Tyler on my Spotify because of his tour.
3. Maggie Rogers
Waiting in line for eight hours with one album on repeat will definitely spike the amount of listening an artist will get. When Maggie’s new album came out, it was also on repeat for a while. I don’t think I was a consistent Maggie listener throughout the year, but definitely through April and May, then again in September and October. I really loved “Don’t Forget Me,” and I really love Maggie Rogers. I thought she would be on my list somewhere, but not as high as #3. I expected #5 or maybe #4. I don’t think Maggie will be very high in 2025, but maybe! You never know.
4. Gracie Abrams
I love Gracie Abrams, and I love her boyfriend more. The Secret Of Us was probably my favorite album from this year. I really want to see her live, but she was in NYC at a bad time. Blowing Smoke and Tough love are chef’s kiss Once the deluxe version came out, I was hoping she would tour again and play Madison Square Garden. I found out today that my wish came true! Very exciting, and I will be there come hell or high water.
5. Baby Keem
Two-phone Baby Keem is still one of my favorite artists. He was my #2 last year, and I thought he would be just as high this year. Again, I think he would’ve been higher if he had released a new album. God bless The Melodic Blue and its deluxe version. 2025 will be the year of Keem, and hopefully, he finally releases some new music (with K-Dot Kenny Kendrick Lamar).
Honorable Mentions
I expected K-Dot, Kenny, Kendrick Lamar to be in my top 5 artists. I still listen to Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers regularly, and since GNX came out, it’s the only thing that has played in my ears. Another artist I expected to be in my top 5 was Lana Del Rey. She is all over my playlist, but I guess I just don’t play her on repeat enough to be ranked.
I can’t tell if I am proud of my top 5 artists or not. I guess it isn’t something to be proud or ashamed of. It just is what it is. I like looking at everyone’s Wrapped because it tells you a lot about them and their year. I hope you enjoyed my breakdown. The main conclusion is, if you released a new album, you were on repeat for me! I just finished my last final exam. I just have a project left, and I’m done! Happy Monday, everyone!
