My Christmas Present From Violet!

I wouldn’t say I’m the biggest sports fan in the world, but I definitely like being in the know. My friends talk so much about sports that I’d feel left out if I knew nothing, so I stay as up-to-date as possible. I’ll watch golf all year, no matter the tournament. I’ll watch football for most of the regular season and all of the playoffs. The Super Bowl will always be one of my favorite holidays. I don’t watch a ton of soccer because I never know when the matches are, but I never miss the big games. I watch no hockey whatsoever. Two years ago, when I made the questionable decision to join the basketball team, I started watching a lot more basketball. I tend to just pick greatness and run with it. Call me a bandwagon, but basketball just isn’t my sport—we have no ties. I decided, because my sisters were born in Brooklyn (and because my lord and savior Kevin Durant played for them at the time), that I’d support the Nets. When I got to school, I wanted to buy season tickets so I could go to games all the time. Ultimately, I decided not to because I thought it might end up being a waste of money. Looking back, it was a great decision. Getting to Brooklyn is way too much of a hassle for a lazy person like myself. Although I decided not to waste money on tickets, I still thought I’d go to games often. I got really busy (and still lazy), so I never went last year. I think part of my lack of motivation was the fact that KD and Kyrie left the Nets the year prior. I fell out of my basketball phase—probably because I played too much 2K. I tend to get really obsessed with things and then drop them quickly. Despite the whole thing with KD and Kyrie leaving, I came into this year with a goal to go to multiple games. Again, I got busy and never had the chance. Luckily, my girlfriend is amazing and wonderful! She bought me tickets to go! She knows how much I love Kevin “KD” “The Slim Reaper” Durant and found out when he would be in town with the Suns! I haven’t been to an NBA game since 2013. I went to a Dallas Mavericks game while visiting family friends in Texas. I remember feeling sick and shitting in the arena’s bathroom. Mark Cuban—great toilets, sir! We sat so high up that my head was scraping American Airlines! I’m really excited to go tonight. I’m writing this post from the train to Brooklyn. I’m meeting Violet there because I had RA stuff to do earlier. I should be just in time—hopefully. I got on the wrong train and made the dumb decision to run to a faraway station. I can’t wait! I can’t wait! What a great Christmas present from a beautiful, wonderful, and amazing girl. I’ll probably write another post about the rest of the night or fill in the details later. Happy Wednesday, everyone! Go KD!
