My Earth Did Not Quake

I’ve been on an awful sleep schedule lately. During spring break, it was okay because I didn’t have to wake up for classes. Now that I’m back at school, it has become a frustrating issue. My last class of the week was this morning at 9:10. I went to sleep at 4:30 in the morning because I was playing Call of Duty with my friends. I must’ve set four alarms, but that didn’t stop me from sleeping in. I woke up at 9:15 and had to rush to class. That has happened a lot for this class. Luckily, my professor says you aren’t late until 9:20. I got there at 9:21, but she still marked me on time. I was really struggling to stay awake all class. The lights are always off, and we watch movie clips. We have a break every hour, and I was desperate to make it to the first one. I went to Starbucks and proceeded to order the wrong drink. I wanted a mocha frappuccino, but I got a white mocha frappuccino. It was still good and did the job. This is when I started to hear the buzz of an earthquake. I’m pretty oblivious, but I would've thought I’d feel the ground shaking underneath me. Apparently, it did. I posted on my private story that I couldn’t confirm nor deny because I was busy at Starbucks. When I got back to class, there was a buzz. Was that an earthquake? Is the city going to fall apart? Are we the new San Andreas fault line? I was just sitting there enjoying my chilled beverage soaking it in. Then my phone started going ballistic. It freaked me out. I thought I was getting a really loud call, which pissed me off because I turned my ringer off before going to class. My safety alarm went off first, but everyone else’s in the class shortly went off. After class, I went back to my dorm, and Fritz was asleep. He woke up briefly and said, “I swear to god I felt an earthquake or something.” I said, “Yeah, you did,” and he hopped up in bed looking a little shocked. Why did everyone feel this thing and not me? I kept telling him to check the news, but of course, our safety alarms on our phones had to go off again. That was my experience for the 2024 New York City earthquake. To me, it was a Starbucks order and maybe a door shutting. To others, they actually got to enjoy it. Whatever, I’m not salty. Happy Friday and don’t shake my city again!
