Sex and The City

I haven’t been watching a lot of TV lately. I’ve been trying to increase my Letterboxd portfolio, so I’ve mainly been watching movies for the last few months. I tried to watch “The Crown” and I really enjoyed the first two seasons. Once they made actor changes, I kind of gave up on it. One of the shows I’ve been told to watch for the longest time is “Sex and The City”. I don’t know why I haven’t seen it before. I’ve watched almost all the other girly shows. “Gossip Girl” and “Gilmore Girls” will always have a place in my heart. People in my classes reference “Sex and The City” all the time. I felt like I had watched it because of how much I hear people talk about it. Everyone here wants to be one of the girls in the show. I decided it was about time to watch it after a close friend from home said she loved it and couldn’t stop watching it. I totally understand everyone at my school now. If I was a woman, I think I would hate men. I don’t really want to write a review of the show for this post. I just want to complain about some of the characters. If you haven’t watched the show, stick with me here. I haven’t gotten very far in the series, but let me share my opinions. I can’t stand Carrie Bradshaw. Someone needs to write her actual ending: cancer. How can you possibly smoke that many cigarettes? How can anyone? I think Carrie lights up every four minutes of the show. If my date started smoking a cigarette mid-date, I think I would get up and leave. She got upset with her boyfriend for lighting up a cigar and her room smelling like one. Honey, you smoke all the fucking time. Grow a pair! Cigar smell is not nearly as bad as your unattractive disgusting cigarette! Carrie is also very annoying. She is selfish and narcissistic. Worst of all, a fucking lying cheater! She talks all the time about how she can’t pick the right man, but really the men are picking the wrong woman. Carrie Bradshaw sucks. My favorite character on the show is Charlotte. She is innocent and kind. She has her dream life imagined. She just wants to settle down and have kids. I love it. She hails from Connecticut. I love it! She wants an American classic lifestyle. I love it! Charlotte should’ve been the show’s main character. She is so much better than Carrie. This show might over exaggerate how shitty men in the city really are, but I can’t help but say it made me question myself. Most of the show is about these women going out with a new man each episode. Each time it is going great and then poof! Something bad happens. It makes it seem like the men are always the ones to fuck something up, but some of the men do things that shock me. Does that really happen? Is this real? Men might actually be terrible. I suggest watching this show. This might be the girliest show ever, but it's a good one. No spoilers either. My mom already messed that one up. Just because the show is old doesn’t mean I know how it ends! Happy Wednesday!
