Staying Busy!

I’ve had a great week so far. I’m trying my best to distract myself from the fact that Violet is on vacation right now. I’ve become so codependent over the last couple months (okay, maybe two years). Monday started out sort of rough with two classes and a bad grade, but after my first steam room experience in NYC, I felt great. Yesterday started out with a visit to Dolce Vita’s showroom. Our class had breakfast and got a tour from their president. What a cool guy! I think he needs to become a professor at FIT. He was funny, charming, and very good at saying things how they are. We have a project where we need to merchandise a collection, so we are using Dolce Vita’s Spring 2025 line. They treated our class wonderfully. There were twenty-seven of us, and they treated us so well. A fridge full of soda, La Croix, Starbucks coffee, wine, and beer. We weren’t allowed to have wine and beer, of course, on a school trip, but some people were probably tempted at the rough time of 9:30 AM. They gave us each a goodie bag that included a really nice umbrella, playing cards, a notebook, a metal bottle opener (which is helpful for the Mexican Cokes I have saved up in my room), and a cute tote bag. They finished off the tour by letting everyone take a pair of shoes home too. Not that they will ever see this, but thank you so much to the people at Dolce Vita. You made everyone feel so welcomed and like a VIP! My next class of the day, Public Speaking, was just fine. My teacher is very structured, and I am not. This makes it really difficult for me. I went straight from class to the gym so I could go on a run. My legs feel like gelatin. I ran two miles three days in a row now. For someone as out of shape as me, that is way too much. I really love running on treadmills. For some reason, I can’t stand running outside. I think it’s the fact that I’m aimlessly running and there is no definite destination. With the treadmill, I can control the speed, push myself, and stop at exactly the distance I want with a precise time. After running, I have been enjoying the steam room. Running and going to the steam has been so relaxing. I feel like all the crap is leaving my body. I don’t know how any of it works, but I feel good. Fine by me! I’m embarrassed of how out of shape I am, so this has been good. I was on duty last night, but I was pretty tired. Luckily, I had no calls and got to play a little Fortnite with Declan. This morning I had a very long four-hour class. It actually felt like nine hours. Again, I went straight from class to the gym. I got a rotisserie chicken and a baguette from Whole Foods for lunch. Apparently, you can hook Whole Foods up to your Amazon Prime account. Legendary behavior from Amazon on that one. I had office hours, which went by pretty quickly. I’m on duty again tonight as I write this. Hopefully, I will have a smooth night again and can play video games with my friends again. I have tomorrow off, so I’m going to try to keep my running/steam streak going. Maybe I will go to SoHo too. Maybe I won’t! Who knows? I just want to rest a little, but keeping busy has been good for me lately. Hopefully, Friday’s post won’t be looking back at this one and regretting saying it was a good week. Happy Wednesday everyone!
