Training Is Over!

Training is over! I’ve been dreading these two weeks ever since I got the job. I thought it was going to be fourteen long, miserable days of listening to boring presentations. In reality, I think it was by far the best two weeks I’ve ever had at FIT. Of course, there were some dragging parts and long presentations, but they were surrounded by group hangouts and productive work, and it was so rewarding when residents moved onto my floor. The biggest win of the whole two weeks was definitely winning the Lip Sync competition as a staff. Winning the trophy to finish off training was the cherry on top. Most of my time here, I have felt like I just want to stay in my dorm. These two weeks have been the exact opposite. I’ve barely been in my room. It’s not even set up. It looks like a big twister has moved through it. I’ve been out and about the whole time. Hanging out with friends until two or three in the morning every night usually gets old, but not right now. I’m actually out and about right now as I’m writing this. I know things will change throughout the year. Sadly, nothing ever stays the exact same. I know that’s how I wish it were, though. I hate change. This hasn’t really felt like a job at all, really. Classes start Monday, and so do my normal run-of-the-mill things. I have office hours in the early afternoon for the first time, but no class until six-thirty. I also have nothing except for a staff meeting Tuesday, so it’s a slow start to the semester. Violet moves in tomorrow, which is the best thing about all of this! Finally, she’ll be living in the city with me! I guess “near me” are the right words, but hopefully, I get to see her all the time. I’m going to try and enjoy my Friday night, so sorry for a shorter post. I’m sleeping in again tonight, too! Happy Friday, everyone!
