Violet Is Here!

Violet is here! She isn’t four hours away anymore! I probably should've written this post a week ago, but I wanted to enjoy my first week in the city with Violet before I did. It gives me more to write about too. For those of you who don’t know, all last year, my girlfriend and I were long-distance. I know four hours isn’t terrible, but to me, it was way too far away. I was going back home so much because I missed my girl! Now that she’s here, I don’t have to—except I probably will because I miss my parents. I can’t really go home as much anyway because of RA stuff. Long-distance isn’t easy. It sucks. My love language is touch, and I need hugs. You can’t hug from four hours away. During my first semester, I had plenty of stress on my plate. One of the biggest stresses was figuring out where Violet was going to go to school. She seemed dead set on Boston and wasn’t too sure about NYU. Obviously, it was a bigger stress for her, but I was still stressed about it. I hate Boston. I would go there, but not as many times as I went home. If she went to Boston, we would see each other so much less. When she got into NYU, I cried tears of joy. I was at the jewelry studio stamping a bracelet when she texted me. I tried calling right after she told me, but she didn’t answer. Her defense is that she found out on the volleyball bus, but my dad called her, and she answered. Anyway, ever since I found out she was coming to New York, I have been so excited. It made the last few months of school go by so slowly. I kept thinking, all I have to do is make it to August, and I will be so happy. Now that August has come and gone, I can report that Violet being in the city definitely makes me extremely happy. I’ve been looking forward to it for so long, and it’s the best thing ever. I have an everything buddy now. We’ve gone to the movies, which I used to do by myself. We’ve gone to Shake Shack, which I used to do by myself. We’ve gone to Blick’s, which I used to do by myself. All the things I wished someone would go with me to, I now have my gorgeous girlfriend to go with me. I feel like a kid in a candy shop now. Violet has come and visited, but this is totally different. She’s a bit further away from me than I thought she’d be, but it still only takes fifteen minutes to get to her dorm. I gave her date-night coupons for Christmas, and hopefully, she will redeem them soon. I really just wanted to write this post about how happy I am to have her here, but also how proud of her I am. Her classes start tomorrow, and she’s gonna kill it. I have to go to Queens tomorrow, but I can’t wait to see her after. I can’t wait to see her all the time—except when she gets sick of me. Happy Monday, everyone!
