What Do I Collect?

Collecting things is cool. That's kind of the whole point of this post. I just wanted to write about the things I've already started collecting or the things I want to collect once I get older and have more money. I think having different collections is a great way to bring yourself happiness in waves. When I look at things I collect, they remind me of a time in my life or a person. It automatically brings me happiness. It might not last awhile, but any boost of happiness is appreciated. Collecting things certainly comes at a price. I feel like I spend way too much money on things that I consider part of my collections. I hate considering my clothes a collection, but technically it is and I have amassed a good collection of clothes. I like buying tee shirts for memory purposes. Whether it is a reminder of an event, like a concert, or reminds me of a person. I think I'll always be okay spending money on event merchandise. I was just telling a friend that you can earn the money back, but the wave of memories that flood in when you see the shirt is worth the money. Every piece of merchandise I have tells a story. Along with tee shirts, I collect bottle caps of different sodas and beers. My family tends to have glass bottle coke for special occasions. I love keeping the glass coke bottle caps from special days. My favorite is from the one year anniversary of Violet and I dating. I collect yardage books and ball markers from all the golf courses I've played or my dad has played. I also like to buy the flags on golf trips with my dad. I want to have a room in my house when I get older of all the flags my dad and I aquired over the years. I collect cigar wrappers and am starting a cigar box collection. It's slow growing but it is getting there. One of my favorite collections are the memorabilia objects I hang on my wall at home and at school. I collect anything from anywhere that I deem worthy of a wall spot. Whether it's the receipt from Shake Shack after my parents first left me at college or it is my tickets to the MOMA. My wall at home has expanded over the last year, hanging up checks from art sales or letters of appreciation from people. I love looking at my walls when I get sad. When I get older I can't wait to collect really cool stuff. Violet told me that our finances have to be seperate because she knows I won't be able to control myself. I want to collect leather goods, specifically handbags, like duffel bags. I want to collect Lego sets. My kids are totally having a Lego room. I'll lie to Violet and tell her it's for the kids, it's for really for me. I want to collect old LIFE magazine covers and have a room for that too. I love the old LIFE magazine covers. They are so pretty. I want a small collection of watches. Really just the ones my dad engraved in my head when I was younger. This post is making me realize that collecting things is a great way to stay in tact with your childhood. I don't know if I'll ever leave my childhood, but that's a talk for another day. Anyway what do you collect? What do you want to collect? Happy Friday!
